Is your 40’s the new 20’s?

    July 20, 2020 / 0 Comments

This week I turn 43, I know, I know, I don’t look a day over 35, thank you..hahaha but all jokes aside, why do we cringe when another birthday comes around? Why shouldn’t a woman ever reveal her age? I recently received a phone call from my mother-in-law who had seen a picture of me in the newspaper’s social section where it had revealed my age and she was mortified and told me I shouldn’t let people know how old I am as she thought it would go against me. I just laughed it off, but I did start to wonder why people make age such an issue or a…

    THE SILENT REPRODUCTIVE KILLER

    February 16, 2020 / 0 Comments

I’m a 42-year-old woman, who was told at 33 that I needed a hysterectomy, why? Well, let me tell you. Getting our period is a rite of passage into womanhood, it’s the next journey as we leave our childhood and step into becoming a woman and let’s face it, at 13 you aren’t thinking about becoming a woman, you are thinking about boys, boy bands, clothes and hanging out with your friends. The last thing we are thinking about is planning our lives, that’s for old people, right? I always wanted children at an early age. I have the best relationship with my mum, we are close, we talk about…

  • Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.” Gore Vidal (1925- ) - 5-8-89 - “

To have style you have to have those in this order. You’ve got to know who you are before you know what you want to say then not give a damn. But knowing who you are is the base that everything else comes from. I’ve got more style now than ever before but I’m still adding to my style.

You know who you are when you become independent enough to believe your own thoughts and become responsible for your actions and you not only “believe” what you want but you live what you believe.

LIVE WHAT YOU BELIEVE…“LIVE THE QUESTIONS FIRST, THEN WHAT YOU BELIEVE”, THEN YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PERSONAL STYLE”….. @officiallymcconaughey
  • Australia has experienced one of the longest ‘bull runs’ in the country’s property value history, and even though COVID-19 restrictions have tempered growth, so far we’ve only seen incremental declines in home values – apart from the luxury price ranges. We’ve had some very good price increases in most state capitals, particularly over the past 5 years.

For a lot of Australians that’s meant it’s a great time to sell your home and take advantage of those gains. Regardless of whether you’re considering sprucing your property up for a quick sale, putting a few things in place to add value for later, or simply getting ‘spring ready’ to make your living space, well… more liveable; I have a few tips that have proven to really add value, both in the short-term and long-term. #linkinbio
  • My #5tips on doing a Kitchen Renos on a Budget...

The kitchen is the heart and soul of any home. It’s where we come together each night to talk about our day, cook a meal for the family and be the centerpiece of entertaining friends, so it's no surprise that a kitchen is the most renovated space in Australia.

In most cases, your kitchen and bathrooms will be the most expensive part of a new build or renovation process. Kitchens can start from as little as $15,000 and go upwards from there. I remember when I built my first home in Indooroopilly and I nearly fell off my chair when the kitchen quote came in at $20,000, I’ve realised over the years of developing property that’s actually a reasonable price.

Done right and well, an updating kitchen can add value to your home when it comes time to sell. If you have champagne taste but a beer income, I’m here to give you some tips on how to update your kitchen without it coming off looking cheap and nasty.

For those of you though who don’t have a spare $20k laying around and don’t want to take out a second mortgage to renovate your kitchen, there are now ways to get what you want for less.

  • When covid hit the globe and businesses went into shut down, we had to start working from home. As homes became the new workplace, people where redesigning spaces in their house to accommodate study nooks or areas. This is how I created mine.

For me, my front lounge room had a lot of space, what I like to say “wasted space” so what I did was put up a wall in front of where the two alcoves where, making the back wall now a whole. On the other side of this lounge room wall is the hallway, so I opened up that wall to reveal the space I took from the lounge room and made a 2 station study nook.

And just like that I had created the perfect work space.
