With the year we’ve had so far… mental health and mindfulness has never been more important than right now. Whether it’s the stresses of the COVID-related work from home juggle, new financial worries, pressure on relationships or social isolation, most of us have now experienced some level of anxiety. Our hope is that with a greater understanding and ability to relate to these feelings, we’ll all find it easier to talk with others, seek help when needed and ultimately remove the stigma around mental health. 6 Ways to Boost Your Property’s Value

    October 20, 2020 / 0 Comments

Australia has experienced one of the longest ‘bull runs’ in the country’s property value history, and even though COVID-19 restrictions have tempered growth, so far we’ve only seen incremental declines in home values – apart from the luxury price ranges. We’ve had some very good price increases in most state capitals, particularly over the past 5 years. For a lot of Australians that’s meant it’s a great time to sell your home and take advantage of those gains. Regardless of whether you’re considering sprucing your property up for a quick sale, putting a few things in place to add value for later, or simply getting ‘spring ready’ to make your…

8 Tips For Styling Your Home This Spring

    October 2, 2020 / 2 Comments

With most of us having spent a significant amount of time within our own four walls this winter, we’ve had plenty of time to dream and get inspired about our home-style, creature comforts, and interiors. Being in real estate for over 20 years, I get to see interior trends first-hand; and the one clear styling trend I have seen stand-out for 2020 is colours, styling and furnishing all created and tastefully put together around ‘mindfulness’.   Our homes are a refuge from the stresses of the outside world (and now more than ever before), so bringing a sense of serenity to your home this spring will give you a much-needed…

Summer Bodies are Made in Winter

    August 11, 2020 / 0 Comments

If you’re feeling like the past few months have resulted in a lot more ‘lounging around’, then you’re probably not the only one. For a lot of us, ‘staying at home’ has meant exactly that – a lot of ‘couch and PJ time’, often at the expense of our fitness, general health and wellbeing. For some of us, it has also been challenging to resist the temptation to over-indulge with easy access to unhealthy snacks and beverages and the fact that when you are bored, you eat! In our defence, cold rainy days have made getting outside less appealing – but have no fear, warm sunshine will be upon us…

5 Tips to Puppy Proof your Home

    August 10, 2020 / 0 Comments

Moving into a new home is an emotional time. After being squashed into a place that was ‘just what you can afford’ for so long, now you have space and permission to do what you like and really make it your own. Once things are unpacked, the pictures hung and your new neighbourhood explored, it’s not uncommon to start to feel like something is missing. Maybe it doesn’t feel quite as much like ‘home’ as you were expecting, or maybe you are ready to take the next step and care for someone else now. A new baby may be too much of a commitment, but a pet can be ‘just…

Renovation Ideas to Increase Your Property Value

    August 8, 2020 / 0 Comments

When the time comes to sell your home, it’s a good idea to freshen up the place a little. Some simple home renovations can improve the overall property value and ensure you get the best price when you sell.  Curbside Appeal Improves First Impressions The first thing to consider with any property is what kind of first impression it gives. Think about what improvements can be made at the front of the house to start with – the fencing, the garden, the entry – then move inside and make a list of what could be updated from room to room. Base your decisions on what you think will improve the…

Time for a Tree or Sea Change?

    August 6, 2020 / 0 Comments

Since March 2020, we have seen a giant shift in how we work, commute, and live due to stay at home government restrictions. As these restrictions adjust and vary around the country, many of us have found we can still do our jobs well, if not better, from home – and are enjoying the change, as well as the opportunities that have come from working where we live. This raises the logical question: If you can now work from home, shouldn’t you make your home as liveable as possible? And, if so, why not move to the best place possible to live well? Australia is indeed the lucky country. We…

How to sell your house in the Covid-19 environment

    July 29, 2020 / 0 Comments

Timing is everything – as they say – and for those selling, or about to sell their houses, earlier this year the COVID-19 pandemic raised a unique set of challenges. Should you keep it on the market, or take a break and wait until later in the year? If you choose to sell now, open homes and auctions are allowed so at least that part is easy. Of course, the most important question is, ‘if you sell now, will you get the price you’re looking for?’ In March everyone’s head was abuzz with such questions. Now, as we approach mid-year, many of those questions have been answered and there is…

Time to carry out Winter Property Maintenance

    July 29, 2020 / 0 Comments

When the winter months come around, it’s often tempting to hibernate and wait for the temperature to start rising again. However, there are plenty of maintenance tasks you can be getting on with to keep your home in top condition and less likely to suffer any problems. Clear your guttering One area of the home that often gets neglected is the guttering. While it might not be the most attractive of tasks, clearing it of leaves and debris is essential. Your guttering is, after all, what takes water away from your home, so it’s highly important that it’s in full working order all year round. Have air conditioning units serviced…

  • I love light and bright so when I originally looked at this space ( see pic 2) I needed to let the light in.

A few simple yet effective changes. 1 remove the dark wooden shutters. 2 fresh paint on the walls and ceiling. 3 install a few more light fittings into the space.

And just like that it’s gone from dark and drab to light and fab.

  • Just a little Granny Flat Hampton’s Kitchen Inspo.

I’ve renovated a little two bedroom flat which is situated under the main house. Its been left by the previous owners in ruins and half completed.

It’s very dark, miserable, sad and is in need of some love, so love is what I gave it 🥰.

This kitchen is from IKEA and cost $3,500.

I extend the wall slightly to allow for a fridge space, finished off the skirting and cornices. I also cut out the original window and put in French door to the balcony.

A fresh lick of paint which is called White on White, and I’ve transformed a very tired and old kitchen into a Hampton’s delight.

  • Are you looking at your walls and thinking how boring they are, this big blank space above your lounge or tv area, it needs something. That something is a little bit of wall candy. It’s a great opportunity to tell a story. Wall candy doesn’t necessarily mean art or paintings, it could be a large mirror that will help bounce light and make your space look bigger, it could be a bright, bold statement piece that adds wow factor or introduce soft textured items like woven pieces, juju hats, rattan basket, the list is as endless as your imagination.
  • Front door eye candy... It’s a thing, but I bet you hadn’t even thought about furnishing your front door, am I right? Do we even see the potential a front door has?

For most it’s just the entry into a home, something we push open to entry out homes but the tides are changing and the front door now wants to be front and centre.

Door furniture is the furthest thing from our minds or not even on our radars, but it should be given the same amount of consideration as all your other reno ideas. Door furniture is all about the handle you choose, the locking mechanism, right down to the door bell. This is something you want to be very clear on with your builder. If not, you’ll come to site one day to find a stock standard door set (yuk). You’ll also want to be clear on where your door furniture is placed, it makes all the difference on the look and feel of your door.

  • Have you heard of GRANDMILLENNIAL?
Well, you are about to. Without adding yet another dimension to the landscape that is interior design, grandmillennial is the 2021 word for Granny Chic. There is a way to do it though without it looking like great granny’s home. While you can go big on the old-fashioned, prints and designs, give space a modern twist by adding in some more contemporary pieces. Think floral prints, lace tablecloths, embroidered curtains, but it's not twee (unique but not
  • #wearamask Brisbane!
I’ll be in quarantine until Monday 6pm as I have been in #Brisbane since the 2nd of January, while only for 1 night, I’ll be doing whatever is necessary to stop the spread of #covid_19 .

I’m going to use this time to get motivated as I’ve really procrastinated since the Christmas break, I can’t seem to find my mojo.

Maybe I’ll clean out my wardrobe and draws, re organisation the pantry and linen closet, clean the house within an inch of its life... what else can I do?

  • Let’s just talk about this front door 🚪.... I love to upcycle and revitalise old to new again. I’m loving the upcycling that was done here and that it made the cut and rehung as the front door.

11 Dempsey St in Annerley was a major overhaul renovation and she’s now ready to find a new owner. 🔗 in bio
